
Youth Internship Program
The RNH Youth Internship Program allows teens to explore a variety of career paths, participate in professional development, and engage in one-on-one counseling. Over the last 15+ years, over 500 teens have participated in the program. Our team provides individual support to ensure the educational and social needs, as well as the overall wellness of each intern.

The Career and College Youth Internship Program offers year long positions beginning in the Fall, for all high school students. Education Internship
The Education Internship is an immersive hands-on program for teens to explore the educational system, learning how to engage and lead educational & recreational activities
The KHCC Special Needs After School Program is a free program that cares for children and young adults with special needs by providing various activities including homework help, tutoring, adaptive physical education, story time and special activities. Interns at this site support staff by assisting with homework help, leading games and activities, and providing general classroom and program support. This experience allows students to gain exposure to careers in education, as well as special education. Interns will strengthen skills in communication, patience, and adaptability while gaining a deeper understanding of inclusive education and the important role educators play in shaping young lives.

Community Internships
The Community Internships at RNH give students an opportunity about what it’s like to work at a community based organization. There are three tracks: Communications, Food and Farm, and Intergenerational programming.
Communications Internship
The Communications Internship takes place on-site at the Riverdale Neighborhood House, where students will focus on creating engaging digital content for a community based organization. Students will be responsible for maintaining our Facebook and Instagram accounts, making physical flyers to post in local businesses, and supporting community events. Interns will gain hands-on experience in social media management, marketing, photography, and video editing. This internship is ideal for students interested in social media, marketing, communications, digital media production, or working at a community based organization.

Food and Farm Internship
The Food and Farm Internship takes place at Riverdale Neighborhood House where Interns will support our Food and Farm Hub which consists of garden-related programming and food justice work. Interns will gain hands-on experience in sustainable agriculture, food distributions, and managing a community fridge. Interns will explore topics including food systems, food access, food sovereignty, botany, environmental justice, education, public health and services, land stewardship, and more.

Intergenerational Internship
The Intergenerational Internship gives students the opportunity to work with older adults to create community programming. The Intergenerational Advisory Council takes place on-sight at Riverdale Neighborhood House where teens and older adults from the Riverdale community collaborate and engage to plan events and activities. Interns will work closely with older adults, leveraging their creativity and ideas to create meaningful programs that foster intergenerational connections. This internship offers an opportunity to bridge generational gaps and build stronger community bonds here at RNH.

Business Internships
The Business Internships at RNH give students an opportunity to work in local businesses and gain valuable skills in marketing, small business operations, and customer service. There are two sites: Female Fight Club and Emiliano’s Deli.
Female Fight Club
This internship takes place at the Female Fight Club (FFC). Located close by in North Riverdale, FFC is a women-owned fitness studio focused on empowerment and wellness. Interns will assist in small business operations, marketing, branding and social media content creation. This internship is perfect for students interested in entrepreneurship, marketing, fitness or women’s health advocacy.

Emiliano’s Deli
This internship takes place at Emiliano’s, a family-owned, high end Italian specialty market in the heart of the community. Known for its authentic products and warm atmosphere, Emiliano’s blends tradition with modern business practices. Interns will gain hands-on experience in small business operations, customer service, and marketing. They will also learn practical financial skills and basic accounting. This internship is ideal for students interested in entrepreneurship, culinary arts, retail management, or business finance.

Healthcare Internships
The Healthcare Internships at RNH give students an opportunity to explore different careers in the healthcare field, and gain hands-on experience in healthcare settings. There are two sites: Hebrew Home and Montefiore.
Hebrew Home at Riverdale
The Hebrew Home at Riverdale is a renowned senior care facility focused on geriatric health and wellness. Interns will assist in observing care routines, and support elderly residents through companionship and structured activities. Students will gain meaningful insight into careers in elder care services. The internship promotes values of compassion, patience, and respect for all ages while introducing students to the importance of longterm healthcare.
Interns must be 16 years old and will need medical clearance since it is a healthcare facility including: 2 PPDs ( or QuantiFERON) , and titers for MMR.

Schedule
Workdays are to be determined, but interns must arrive at the worksite by 3:30 pm and will work a total of 4hrs/week plus Friday meetings from 4:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Montefiore Hospital
Montefiore Hospital is a leading healthcare institution where interns will gain direct exposure to the daily operations of a hospital setting. Students may observe patient care routines and engage in department-based support work. Through this experience, interns develop a deeper understanding of medical careers such as nursing and hospital administration. This internship fosters professionalism, empathy, and critical communication skills—key qualities in the healthcare field.
Students may be placed at one of three Montefiore campuses:
• Weiler Campus: 1825 Eastchester Road, Bronx, NY 10461
• Moses Campus: 111 East 210th Street, Bronx, NY 10467
• Wakefield Campus: 600 East 233rd Street, Bronx, NY 10466

The program is open to teens attending high school between the ages of 14 and 18.

We offer internships throughout the year in various fields — including education, healthcare, senior services, media, sustainability, gardening, and recreation.
Our 2025-2026 school year offerings are education, healthcare, business, intergenerational programming, food and farm, and communications.
Our 2026 summer offering will be released in the spring.

We offer both school year and summer internships.
During the school year, our internship program runs from late October to early June. See individual internship offerings for specific schedules. Interns typically work 4-6 hours per week.
We also offer internships over the summer. Specific details about scheduling will be released in spring 2026.

Yes! Stipends are awarded to all of our interns.

For school year internships, applicants must automatically select a first choice option and a second choice option in their application. If applying, determine your top two choices and select those.
