A Celebration of Community

We invite you to gather in the garden at Riverdale Neighborhood House to celebrate the peak summer harvest with a garden to table dinner.

Riverdale Neighborhood House and Moss Café have been working together on a shared mission: building a local food system that centers ethical eating, community resilience, and environmental stewardship. We invite you to take a seat at our community table, next to neighbors new and old, as we engage with the community that surrounds us all. This collaborative garden dinner is a celebration of the neighborhood.

The evening will begin with cocktails and appetizers in the garden, followed by a family style dinner curated by the chefs of Moss Café. The menu will highlight produce from RNH's garden, as well as ingredients from local farmers and purveyors. This meal is kosher certified.

About the Hosts

  • Riverdale Neighborhood House began in a greenhouse when Grace Dodge created a lending library for local workers. In April 2021, we returned to our roots, digging up and transforming 3,000 square feet of concrete into the Food & Farm Hub. Made up of a teaching garden, mutual aid fridge, and community gathering space, the Food & Farm Hub is a space for all neighbors. Through educational programs and community outreach, the Food & Farm Hub is dedicated to building a more equitable food system— one that balances the immediate food, health, and economic needs of neighbors with the long-term demand for community resilience.

  • Moss is a café committed to community, sustainability, quality, and creativity. Our approach to food is simple – use the best local ingredients and let that speak for itself.

Our community is warm and open. Moss Café is both a respite and a place to connect. Sourcing from local farms allows us to serve the freshest, best-tasting produce while also inspiring creative dishes that connect us and our customers to our surroundings and the seasons. We hope to encourage a greater consciousness in the food we eat, where it comes from and the impact it has on both the planet and our community.

About Our Partnership

Since the RNH garden was built in 2021, Moss Café has procured produce straight from the raised beds on Mosholu, incorporating the locally grown harvests into their weekly menu. RNH and Moss have collaborated on other initiatives including a line of pesto sold at the RNH Youth Market. Working together, we hope to build a local food system committed to sustainability, community, and food justice.
