Riverdale Neighborhood House – Key Program Areas
As a settlement house, RNH strives to offer programs and services that meet the present-day needs of our community. We are always assessing trends and welcome input for new ideas and interests. The major program areas are early childhood education, school-age care, youth services and older adults. We also feature a swimming pool program for the summer months.
Early Childhood Education
Accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), RNH Early Childhood Programs meet all New York State and NYC Department of Education standards. Programs are available for children ages 2.9 through 4 with flexible scheduling options.
School Age
Our school age program offers after school care for children ages 5-12. We pick up from PS 81 and PS 24 with care until 6 PM as well as full days during school holidays. After the school year ends, we offer a fun and exciting summer day camp.
Teens
RNH offers young people a safe, fun and relaxing environment to learn who they are and discover who they might become. We offer programs that focus on career development including our signature Youth Internship Program. RNH now also offers an Out of School Time (OST) program at the middle school at MS/HS 368, the IN-Tech Academy.
Adults & Seniors
Older adults are cherished and valuable members of our community. The RNH Telephone Reassurance Program helps these seniors remain connected through daily phone calls from our wonderful team of adult volunteers; this helps them remain at home longer while we insure that they are safe and well.
The RNH Pool Program
For over 60 years, residents of Riverdale have enjoyed relaxing and swimming in the RNH swimming pool. The program operates from Memorial Day through Labor Day and has a variety of membership options to meet everyone’s needs.
