Health & Harmony Program

Welcome to the Health and Harmony Program at the Riverdale Neighborhood House. Since 1872, the Riverdale Neighborhood House has served as a center for community outreach, addressing the needs of individuals and families at every stage of life. Our new Health and Harmony Program continues that tradition, providing programs to nourish your spiritual self to bring you inner peace, and programs to fortify and improve your mind and body to enable a longer, healthier, more fulfilling life. Our approach is personal; in a world being taken over by online modalities and smartphone apps, with us it is, and will always be, personal.

Current Programs

Hatha Yoga

Designed for beginners and experienced students who want to practice classic poses at a comfortable and steady pace, this class will help you feel centered and refreshed. Students will work on connecting breath to each movement – moving and flowing through gentle warm ups, building strength with standing and seated sequences, and wind down the class with a deep relaxation. We launched our new Health and Harmony Programs with two offerings:

Mojo Weight Loss: A groundbreaking approach to weight loss! Instead of, “When I lose the weight then I will feel good about myself”, the Mojo mindset says “I feel good, sexy and attractive right now as I embark upon taking the weight off”. The Mojo Mindset harnesses our inner strength and belief in ourselves.  A cleanse, an eating and supplement plan, a weekly affirmation, and more, are part of the program. Taught by Jacqui Justice, MS, CNS, in private practice as a nutritionist since 1996, Jacqui has been widely quoted in national and local publications.

Introduction to Meditation: Learn the basic techniques of meditation and the underlying philosophy of setting free, and reconnecting with, your real, fully alive self. Think of a time or even a just moment in your life when you truly felt fully alive. The practices you will learn in this class will help get you back to that place. Taught by Merrill Harmin, a wise and compassionate teacher and practitioner with 30 years’ experience. Many credit Merrill with having changed their lives.

Zumba!  Zumba is a fusion of Latin-inspired dance and fitness incorporating Latin and International music and dance movements which tone and sculpt the body to achieve a unique balance of cardio and muscle toning benefits. Zumba burns calories, improves cardiovascular health, normalizes blood pressure, helps with weight control, and improves psychological well-being! For more details, click here.
