Teen Programs
This FREE year-round program is a home-away-from-home for many of our twelve- to eighteen-year-olds. RNH offers a warm, welcoming, environment. It is a place for teens to call their own. To discover who they are. And who they want to become.
Our Faculty
The program operates Monday through Friday from the time school lets out until 8 PM (9 PM on Friday). The lounge area is set up as a large living room. Our recreation area includes a pool table, air hockey, foosball and video games. There are outdoor basketball and tennis courts as well as a swimming pool for summer use.
Career Path
Our model of youth development and life planning, helps teens build the foundation for their educational and professional futures while gaining meaningful social experiences.
Job Bank
What is standing between you and that first job? Job Bank offers young people the necessary tools such as: resume-building techniques, mock interviews, job search strategies and tips for filling out job applications. Let us help you develop the skills you need to succeed in the workplace!
Youth Internships
Explore new interests and give back to your community. Internships are a great way to get a taste of a possible future career, learn from professionals, and have fun, too! Be sure to contact Jhanell Biggs at ext. 114 if you have any questions! RNH offers "mini" internships in addition to the 3 key disciplines listed below:
Environment: Calling all outdoor enthusiasts! Teens explore nature while maintaining and beautifying one of NYC's largest public parks. Under the direction of the Friends of Van Cortlandt Park, interns learn about composting, help to tend the John Muir Train - a Bronx hiking treasure, participate in community outreach events, and learn about testing the water quality of the lake.
Health: At the Schervier Nursing Care Center, interns lay the groundwork for healthcare careers. Perhaps more importantly, they bridge an intergenerational gap - developing friendships with seniors who offer invaluable perspectives.
Education: Working on-site at RNH, interns learn from our own skilled educators who op[en minds to educational careers and offer real-world advice and guidance. Along the way, children in our AFter School Programs get individualized attention and peer mentoring from someone who was recently their own age.

Arts and Culture
Our teens develop creative expression by participating in workshops that explore poetry, the visual arts, and dance, as well as by attending shows on Broadway and at the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts.
Recreation
Our well-equipped facilities offer a place to socialize and get a workout. Whether it is outside sports like basketball, tennis or swimming; or inside activities like ping-pong, foosball, air hockey or billiards - there is always a game developing.
Youth Council
Teens take an active role in raising money for programs, participate in beautification projects to serve their community, assist staff and advise management of program needs and issues.
Community Service/Volunteer Opportunities
Opportunities to contribute time and passion - or complete community service requirements - are available at RNH. Young people can share their hobbies and interests, make sandwiches for the homeless, help out at special events and tutor children in our After School Program.
