Family Center

Nurturing a family can be one of life's most rewarding experiences. It can also be one of life's most challenging. The RNH Family Center offers all members of your family the opportunity to gain education, build friendships and access support from others who are going through similar experiences.

Support/Discussion Groups
A social worker trained at the Ackerman Institute for the Family leads a discussion group for parents of infants and toddlers (newborn to three-years-old). Topic include postpartum emotions, the stages of child development, feelings of isolation, and work/life balance.

Arts and Culture
Our teens develop creative expression by participating in workshops that explore poetry, the visual arts, and dance, as well as by attending shows on Broadway and at the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts.

Counseling and Referrals
Our certified social worker provides short-term counseling to any RNH participant in need of assistance - from new parents to school age children to teens to senior volunteers. Those requiring continued support are referred to local providers.

Infant/Child Safety and CPR
A registered nurse specializing in infant health and development teaches infant and child safety to both new and experienced parents, as well as grandparents and babysitters. This series of classes includes topics such as childproofing the home, poison prevention, CPR, and child safety awareness.
